Planning A Great Summer BBQ Party Is Easy With These Simple Steps
When warmer weather returns it seems that everyone wants to have an outdoor barbecue party. Whether you want to celebrate Memorial Day or Labor Day or any other great summer holiday, a BBQ party is a great idea.
- First, consider your guests – because you simply can’t have a party without them! Get invitations out as early as possible so your guests have time to get their schedules opened up and iron out any potential conflicts.
- Next, plan ahead for the weather. Of course it can be almost impossible to do that depending upon where you live and the climate in your area. So, always have a backup plan in place: either a backup location or a backup “rain” date.
- Next, consider a theme for the party and allow that theme to guide you in selecting meats, side dishes, desserts and drinks. Plan your food selection according to the theme and be sure to consider what you know about your guests. If you have a guest that is vegetarian or Jewish, then you must ensure you’ve got vegetarian or Kosher foods available.
- If you want your guests to bring something to the party, let them know early so they have plenty of time to get the items and bring with them. (Hint: if you don’t already have a grill, ask one of your buddies if they’ve got the amazing portable Weber Q220 grill)
- A few days before the party, a reminder email or Facebook notification is a great way to keep the event in front of your guests – so they remember to come to it! If there are any reservations or rentals you need to do, then now is the time to get those last minute details worked out.
- The day before the party you need to have all your items ready, including meat and marinades. If there are any last minute things you need to buy – now’s the time to do it. Don’t forget to have plenty of charcoal or propane for your grill – and plenty of ice for the drinks.
- The day of the party, make sure you have plenty of time to get all your last minute items taken care of. Remember to welcome your guests and make any newcomers feel at ease. Be a good host! If you can’t do that, then assign that task to someone you trust!
